I really tried to like this gun and I did like it but I could never shoot it as well as my 5" that I used for USPSA Plus the guns were so different it was hard to use one as a backup pistol.
So long story short I just finished a big build and had a new 5" Schumann ribbed barrel in hand so I spent my Saturday seeing how far I could get.

Before: 6" .40 cal bushing barrel gun

I wasn't sure how it would look since i would be cutting through the serrations but my only other choice was to buy a different slide and I have 2 other big projects I will be posting pics of soon that have eaten to much money.

    During

Milling an inch off the slide

found center of the slide and cut for the ribbed barrel

picked up the previous flat top

Determining how much material to remove off each side of the hood

11 degree target crown, plus I had to cut and polish the chamber

Sand blasted and painted it Midnight Blue along with a customers Baretta :)

Polished out the flats and assembled today. otherwise everything was done in one day.

I just recently purchased a SA 1911-A1 and it has a crummy grip safety. I purchased a Wilson & Ed Brown grip safeties but they don't fit(too wide). I'm guessing the frame needs modified or do the grip safeties need modified? Sorry for mucking up your thread. Great looking guns btw.:yesway:

I have at least one, but probably a couple, cerakote projects coming up. I'm having a lot of trouble finding exactly what I want. Hopefully, I can decide soon and come down to see you.
