    haha i used a rubber mallet to get the bayonet off. i think im going to remove the spring on the bayonet and see if i can maybe shorten it to make it less stiff

    Congrats, and welcome to the sickness! Here's a easy way of making your bayonet fit better. On the side of the socket you'll see an open slot. Take a large screwdriver or small pry bar and insert it into this slot from the bottom. Twist the tool and spread that slot just a little bit so the bayo still is snug but can be removed easily. If you get it spread too far, you can put it in a vise and close it back up a little.
    As far as your firing pin spring, yes you could probably shorten it a little. I've done it on some of my main shooters. Go slow, take off no more than a quarter of a coil at a time. You still want a bit of load on the spring when the firing pin is in the released position to insure good impact on the primer.
