JC Higgins model 29 update

Here's an update on the JC Higgins 29. I put 5 coats of truoil on this week and the black walnut is looking better... maybe one more coat and some wax this weekend. Today I'm going to touch up the scratches on the receiver with flat black spray paint. After that I just need to reassemble and pick up a weaver rifleman scope on eBay. Hopefully I get it all back together correctly and she fires!

Finished everything up today and reassembled...had a little trouble with the bolt and trigger but figured it out eventually. I got a few shots in at the range to be sure and she shoots just fine. Just need to put the Weaver scope on when it arrives and it's a wrap... hope my buddy likes it as much as I do.

Beautiful job. What was the letter that was carved in the stock? You did a great job getting rid of it.

H E T...on both sides of the stock. I got them out with a random orbit sander then smoothed things out. Took off a lot of wood!
Thanks...I was surprised how well it shoots... can't wait to put the scope on.

I got the scope on and sighted. The owner was really pleased with the results... thank you to everyone who took time look and comment.
