Hah! Yeah, she'll vote for it in the reauthorization.. She's not fooling anyone.

1:05 - 1:18 kills me. A "review" if it's a clone of what it entailed prior? Please. Might as well just say she supports it.

The really fishy part is most lawmakers admitted that they just passed it without even reading it. Went on the name, and what the political climate was at the time. Why that... treasonous act... has lasted this long is beyond me. And it is. When it takes away rights granted by the constitution and bill of rights what else can you call it but treason?

The Patriot Act has never concerned me as much as it seems to concerns many others. Maybe I'm just ignorant. As far as Michelle goes, if I were single I would drive up to MN and ask for her hand in marriage. She is a knockout.

Exactly. Not to mention being 500+ pages long and not being made available to Congress in a reasonable amount of time before it was voted on. It was said to have been "hot off the presses"... Literally.

It's because as a whole the American people will all too willingly give up their freedoms for a sense of security from a shadowy threat that the government says is out to kill every one of us and eat our entrails.

Typical sheeple response :yesway:

So Sgt, please give me one instance where this law has directly affected you or anyone you know. Also tell me why you object to the govt wiretapping jihadists calling home. "Sheeple", I think not.

They've used the PATRIOT Act against numerous non-"jihadists" in this country already. Most notably anti-war protesters. A law doesn't have to be used against you for you to find it repugnant. Are there no laws you find onerous that have not been used against you personally? Or you good with them all?

Don't get me wrong guys, I realize a law doesn't have to be used against me for me to find it repugnant. Example; I have never nor will I ever make over $250K a year. Yet I detest the socialists pandering that taxes on the rich should be raised so they pay their "fair share". Before saying any more, I will do some homework on the patriot act. I'll respond after digesting it.

Well said sir. It is a ongoing crime that should be placed in the dustbin of history.

Thanks,
Matthew

Let me see if I can interpret what she was really saying:

"Sir, you ask this question because you think that as a Republican and conservative, I would see the immense freedom robbing nature of this legislation and vote against it. This is an incorrect assumption, and I would remind you that my very party put it in place. Now the reason I voted for it was because in order for us to maintain the direction of this government, we cannot have a people of freedoms- for people of freedoms are thinking people, and they are our single greatest threat. Therefore, we must continue to make the citizenry believe their greatest threats are oceans away instead of on our very shores- in fact, in our very capitol. This fear is used to get a "pass" for such legislation as a "tool" to combat terroristic concerns and by it, we can alleviate a non-thinking citizenry's external fears, while at the same time combating our own domestic fears. Therefore, I will not talk straight to you about saying "no" to it coming around again."

Know a little about history before you speak on subjects that you have little/no knowledge...history repeats itself.

In Germany they first came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me —
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
