Honestly, the number of trigger-happy blow hard gun owners is alarming, and frankly pretty scary. It’s like they don’t realize they’re the morons that feed fuel to the gun control dumpster fire. Not to mention they probably shouldn’t own a gun since they’re itching so much to shoot someone.

I hear what you're saying, but then I look at statistics involving unjustified use of deadly force involving firearms and negligent/accidental discharges of firearms, and realize that such people are primarily blowhards who, statistically speaking, don't actually act out their bluster.

Right, don’t get me wrong I thought of that as well. People like that are just what the gun control crowd uses to describe gun owners. People who’ve never been around firearms think of people like that when they hear someone owns a gun.

If you leave your "Wallet" in your car and it gets stolen you are an idiot.
If you leave your laptop setting on the seat and it gets stolen well.....yeah you are an idiot.

If you leave a gun in your vehicle overnight and it gets stolen I can not find any words to describe your level of stooooopid and not get myself banned.

and if you leave a trailer full of (class III) guns outside and it gets stolen?

I was at a local restaurant this morning having breakfast when I overheard a guy spewing nonsense at a nearby table with about five guys ranging in age from 55-70. Everyone seemed to want to contribute to the conversation about the upcoming election. One guy talked about someone getting a threatening letter because of a campaign sign in their yard.
That’s when Johnny bad spewed out the macho inaccurate advice. He said “if I get a letter like that I’m going to tell them come on over and we’ll have a party, because in Indiana the Castle Doctrine means I can shoot someone if their outside breaking in my car and I tell them to stop”. He then makes a pretend gun with his thumb and finger and says bang your dead. Looked just like Joe Biden doing his stupid bang thing.
I wanted to yell “You have to be in the vehicle!” But we all have to choose our battles and that was one I didn’t have the time or patience for this morning.
I did a quick lookup for the code
Indiana Code 35-41-3-2 states that, “a person is justified in using reasonable force, including deadly force, against another person and does not have a duty to retreat…if the person reasonably believes that the force is necessary to prevent or terminate the other person’s unlawful entry of or attack on the person’s dwelling, curtilage, or occupied motor vehicle.”
Nothing in my car is worth a human life. Theirs or mine!

My mantra, these past 2+ years has been, 'too many people think they know...but they don't really know'...
and that mantra applies to guns and gun laws in too many cases!
Your 'buddy' at the restaurant sounds like he's being way too macho to be out in public unsupervised...
bragging and trying to sound 'tough' while at the same time mis-construing what the law actually says
and how it makes allowance for as a citizen who actually needs to be able to defend themselves in a life-n-death situation!
Too many people have what they believe is the correct response or way to handle different situations,
but in the case of Castle Doctrine, have a) not even read the law, or b) do not understand the parameters of the law and how it applies in the real world!
I've been to Guy's course on self-defense...it was both educational as well as an eye-opener as to how others view the law as well.
I was a volunteer EMT for 24 years and got to spend a decent amount of time around law enforcement during that time...
even they don't have a full grasp of all of the laws they're supposed to be enforcing, and specifically when it comes to firearms.

There's been a lot of jawing but not one of these Rambo's have mowed down a line of "peaceful protesters". I'm a little surprised some nutcase hasn't. :dunno:

I hear ya. Our neighborhood had dozens of cars hit this early AM. Lots of stuff stolen including wallets and guns. One neighbor that I later discovered was one of those hit who had his Glock stolen from his truck, posted "Ive got 30 rounds for the next time they try it".

After some heated back and forth (from him only, because he was still running on pure rage, I stayed calm) he FINALLY accepted the fact that you cant shoot people over "stuff".

To some people, their "stuff" can mean a HUGE difference in their life. Vehicles are a good example.

I've known a few people who have lost their jobs because they couldn't afford reliable vehicles, and vehicle-related tardiness or absence was not tolerated.

Personally, if I walked out to go to work, and someone was stealing my vehicle, I'm not going to shoot them (as much as I'd want to). I'd call the cops, then call my boss and tell him I'm going to be late or out for the day. No big deal. If I did go to work, I'd just take my wife's or my daughter's vehicle.

Not everyone has that luxury. Some people count on their only vehicle to support themselves and maybe a family. They don't have a lot of employment options or opportunities, and losing their vehicle means losing their food, utilities, and housing. For people like that, stealing their car is akin to stealing their only horse when they lived 30 miles outside of town, 150 years ago.

What you and I consider "just stuff", means a whole lot more to other people.

Lots of people do the tough guy act on front of buddies, but when it comes down to it most people wouldn't have it in them to pull the trigger. Hopefully most people use common sense and assess the situation...trying to be a badass can land you in prison very quickly

Even just not thinking about the consequences of your actions can get you in trouble. For instance I knew of a guy who was at a gas station when it was robbed, then he he ran out after the criminals firing at them without thinking where his bullets were going. One stray one goes the wrong place and he could be in a world of hurt and his life was no longer in immediate threat

I've noticed that most of the people who are "itching" to shoot someone have never visited violence upon someone in any serious way. They think they're going to feel good afterwards, but they ain't going to. A sociopath or psychopath might, but someone with normal psychology wouldn't relish it.
