This isn't law yet, it's only through the Senate. Is there a chance it will be shot down in the House? I don't know my NY politics very well.

My friends in NY State say it's as good as done at this point. The Senate was the only potential roadblock.

Guys, it's coming. Are you ready?

Wow that is a horrendous FU to freedom.

This bit of the bill is especially troubling:

Within one year of the effective date, all weapons defined as assault
weapons under the new "one-feature" test, as well as weapons
grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban, must be
registered. Current owners of these banned weapons may transfer the
weapons only to a firearms dealer or transfer to an out of state
buyer. All registered owners will be subject to a review of
    disqualifiers by the State Police.

So according to the bill all ammo sales have to go thru an FFL so if Bob in upstate NY wants to buy a brick 22 he has to fill out a background check? Is this not insane?

Not that I don't feel for the poor bastards in that state but I wonder if these means there will be an upswing in magazine and rifle listings on Gunbroker.

They are absolutely crazy! I would just turn the city over to the criminals (politicians included) and get out of there as soon as possible. It's good the mayor, Trump and JayZ don't have to worry about it, though.

It will be interesting to see how the gun owners in NY respond. Will they leave the state? Will they vote their legislators out of office? Or, will they live under these new restrictions?

It will also be interesting to see how businesses in NY respond. Will firearm manufacturers leave NY in protest and take their jobs with them? And, what about other businesses. Will they be able to attract and retain employees who regard their 2nd Amendment rights more important than a NY issued paycheck? I used to work for a large company that changed its benefit policy to include same sex partners so they could attract and retain highly qualified professionals with same sex partners. Will gun owners work in a state that doesn't respect their 2nd Amendment rights?

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Moves like this one need to be outlawed in the courts. Cuomo is an extremist of the worst kind. Using tragedy to further his political career, establishing anti-constitutional legislation, and doing absolutely nothing to secure the safety of kids and teachers. These guys are tyrants.
