    Hey guys,

I have heard alot of good things about Kahr and thought I might pick one up for CC.

I am deciding between the 9mm or 40SW? Any thoughts?

Price that I am finding is like $415 for the CM40 and $380 for the CM9.

I like the 9mm cartridge but have never had a 40.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks,
    Zero

Either one will do what you need it to. They are both good rounds. It's kinda like saying, which is better, Ford, Chevy or Dodge? You will get equal pros and cons for all. Everyone has their favorite and everybody has an opinion. I like both my CM9s. But that is me. Good luck making your decision.:yesway:

I like the 9 and would probably have got one, but a friend and I bought them together and he took the 9, so I ended up with the 40.

The 40 shoots very well and isn't anywhere near the recoil I expected. Never have had a problem with it and shoots point of aim at 12 yards in very acceptable groups.

So, I don't think you can go wrong either way, but the 40 is a nice little pistol.

One minor additional point. The recoil spring on the 40 is a bear until you shoot it a bit.

CM9 is a good choice, they recommend shooting a couple hundred rounds through it before carrying but I haven't had an issue with mine.

I found the 40 to be too snappy for my taste. I suppose with regular use I wouldn't notice but my first experience with it I put a magazine through and grouping was a word I would use loosely.

I agree with those recommending the 9mm. Thinner, lighter, less expensive to shoot, more round capacity, less recoil. Can't think of a legit advantage of 40 cal.

For the record, the CM40 is 4 hundredths of an inch thicker than the 9, and 1.8oz heavier. Their essentially the same in those respects. But your correct, you lose a round of capacity, and .40 is about 7 cents more per round, than 9mm (both federal bulk) 9mm has been MUCH harder to find, as it is much more popular with the common folk, than the .40, but still not impossible to find.

I dont see how you could go wrong with either. Kahr makes a great gun.
