I have a 23,000 BTU kerosene heater for emergency heat, but I'm thinking about getting a propane heater. The specs on the heater say it will run 24 hours on 4 gallons. Around here, kerosene currently costs $4.30/gal. If I ran the heater 24 hours, it would cost $17.20 per day.
Also, in my area, kerosene is not as available as propane. Some towns don't sell any, some towns only have one place. One the other hand, every town has at least 2 or 3 stores that sell propane, and thats not counting the several propane supply companies that are in my area.
So, let's discuss the virtues of kerosene vs. propane.
I do have one specific question though:
How many gallons would a comparable sized (23,000 BTU) propane heater use in 24 hours?
