They've built and opened the worlds longest bridge. Quite the feat of engineering. It's about 3 miles longer than my favourite bridge, (and one I've gone across numerous times), the Lake Ponchartrain Bridge heading to NOLA. And it connects to a city that the Chinese had to rebuild from scratch after a massive earthquake destroyed it. Nice looking bridge, too. And they're charging tolls in order to maintain it. Not raising taxes.

That is a bridge too far: World's longest sea bridge opens to traffic in China... but it will only hold the title for five years | Mail Online

    Simply amazing.

26 miles of bridge, with suspsended sections, completed in only 4 years for a cost of less than $2B.

    It boggles the mind.

It'll only be the longest bridge for a few years...

They're already planning on building a MUCH much longer one.

Doesn't change the fact that structures like this really are miracles of engineering & technology, though.

The Chinese are probably laughing at us as our interest payments are funding their infrastructure.

    lol, very true.

Alot of folks will pull that youtube video of the "empty city" thinking, hey, take THAT China, not understanding that the Chinese didn't pull any heavy duty loans to build those things...

We can't even build a house in the US without loaning all the money for it, then having the local economy crippled when it is finished due to unemployment.

When you are flush with cash like China, gotta put it into something to prevent it from sitting. :D One would think though, space program would be next on the list for them, something more than sending a satellite up everysooften... :dunno:

Disposable's prediction: Chinese beat us to Mars within the next 20 years...
