When I was on the department as I recall in the state of Indiana it was an offense to back out of a driveway onto a public street.
    Is this still true?
Not looking for opinions here just fact. IC number if you have it available.

    Thanks!!!

I seem to remember that you cannot back onto a State highway. (it is a good idea, I totalled a bike and was hospitalized when a farm truck backed across state 26 right in front of me) I never heard anything about city streets or county roads.

I am unaware of any specific law preventing backing out of a driveway, however if you do so in a manner that causes oncoming traffic to have to unreasonably slow and/or stop, it can fall under obstructing traffic.
