    I thought some of you might be interested in this article in the WSJ about active shooters.

    The article states "46% of the attacks were ended by use of force, either by law enforcement or bystanders." I wonder what percentage was actually "bystanders."

    The article also quotes a police captain saying "...if confrontation with the shooter cannot be avoided office workers should arm themselves with whatever items can be used as weapons — scissors, a stapler, a pen, a leg from a table — and attack the shooter as 'aggressively and violently' as they can." This is the first time I have seen anyone say in public to attack the shooter! In the absence of a real weapon, this is better advice than only saying "find a place to hide." Most people never address what if you can't hide!
