I have more friends that are CPD than I realized. One, a patrol officer told me that the city has added so much paper work to their daily
work load that it has significantly affected their time in the car actually patrolling. I might have misunderstood my friend but IIRC it is now
mandated that an CPD officer must now file a report every time they stop someone to talk to and basically justify why they did.

The present utter anarchy that is the inner city of Chicago is the product of what is known as "The Law Of Unintended Consequences"
the fallowing is the direct result of government legislation:

#1-Destory the family unit as a whole
#2-Allow and actively promote a certain sect of society to have 80% or more of their children out of wedlock
#3-Disarm the innocent law abiding citizens, but not the criminals
#4-Create a multi generational welfare system that once on it is nearly impossible to escape it
#5-Remove all consequences for and actually reward you for abhorrently immoral behavior
#6-Disable and actively vilify your police force to the point that all they can do is at best is confine the insanity and mayhem, tag and bag
the bodies and make arrests ONLY after a heinous crime has been committed, and can do little to prevent crime only react once a crime is
    committed.

The inner city of Chicago, all of Gary IN, cities in CA, NYS, the list goes on and on have become little more than slaughter houses from
Friday to Monday morning. And anyone correct me if I error, but all of our worst crime cities are died (misspelled on purpose) in the wool
rabidly liberal and like Chicago have been under the absolute control of the DemacRatic party for 5 or more decades.

Yet I am willing to bet all I own the people of Chicago will elect yet another ultra socialist demacRat as their mayor and keep reelecting the same socialists to the Chicago city council over and over never endingly so.
Didin't Albert Einstein say: "the definition of insanity is doing the same exact same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome"
Well places like Chicago, have been doing the same exact things for decades and the only explanation is those in charge are either insane
or their continued course of utter failure is by malice of fore thought. Personally I feel it's the latter of the two choices.

Anyone else but me see a multiple instances of commonality to this never ending carnage?

Depends. 30 second checkbox form vs 30 minutes of paperwork matters. Plus, is pointing the same as pulling? If I pull from my holster but hold it at low ready, is that a "point" for paperwork?

I've heard some of the Indy LEO's are quite cavalier with "Pull my finger" demands......

    Only in Chicago...........

It's not "Only in Chicago". I got an email request from Brownell's requiring me to send them an updated copy of my sales tax exemption for the State of Indiana. I've done business with Brownells for 16 years and AFAIK my sales tax id for Indiana has never changed. No other supplier has requested that update. I've sent them a screenshot of my id info for the state. That wasn't good enough. They want the ACTUAL certificate.

So...after wasting more time than its worth, I told them I'm not doing it and to stuff it. I've been using other sources like McMaster-Carr for my needs and Brownells hasn't had good pricing on almost anything in a long time (better than Midway, but not as good as "real" tool and hardware companies or other firearms specialty companies).

It’s not unusual for companies to request updated exemption certificates every 2-3 years. When they are audited they often have to provided a certificate that is “current” (less that 2-3 years old).

I'm in my 20th years as a police officer. In that time I can count on one hand the number of changes which were made in an effort to increase the efficiency of the job for officers. I lost count somewhere round 3572 changes which have done nothing but over-complicate the job and reduce the ability of officers to do police work.

Wanna know how many lawn ornament vandalism's occurred in Indianapolis last year? Maybe you'd also like to see the average number of lawn ornament vandalisms, broken down by month, annually for the past 10 years? Curious as to whether or not a specific type of lawn ornament is vandalized more often than another? The data exists along with data on a myriad of other ridiculously unimportant statistics and it exists because officers are collecting it. It's a huge drain on an expensive resource but the fewer criminals we arrest the less we have to incarcerate so it's working out for some folks.

I think that phenomena is not limited to police departments.
I think that's happening all over the country. And I think it's one of the things (many things) affecting worker productivity.
Paperwork and bean counters are necessary. But I think we're letting them "run" things, or giving them too much impact.

You sir are PAINFULLY correct. The corporation I work for is now almost entirely run either by accountants, or their management
methodology is solely based on accounting principals. And let me tell you it has been a complete abject failure. It's great job with great pay, but I'm taking the steps necessary to be prepared for yet another change in employers.
The new management philosophy that is has become the latest way to run your company is with all decisions being made from a purely
accounting basis and to get my company to have on hand the parts needed to keep the plant running is like pulling teeth from the mouth
of a live ravenous crocodile, FORGET investing in new equipment or upgrades. Don't buy get by is our new economic strategy. They are
literally running the place into the ground.

    Absolutely this.

I can't wait to go into work every night to see what ridiculous new thing we have to do to get the same results we got the night before.

Some idiot suggested getting each technician at work a tablet. To "help".

I asked for an assorted set of circuit board sized screws/nuts/washers.
In the mill, the millwrights can get big assed bolts.
The electricians can get the one size that outlets use.
But me, I have to scrounge.
Anyway, the $30 set of screws was turned down.

So, they won't buy me stuff to do my job.
But they'll buy me something that I have to worry about breaking, will have to have the software maintained, passwords and all kinds of crap that I DON'T NEED.
    Ugh.

Where I work if we point a firearm at someone we are required to do a use of force report. It's a simple report that takes 5 mins to fill out on the computer. No real issue. It can help when someone says you just wanted to shoot someone and you can say well actually I've drawn my gun 20 times and never had to fire it at anyone else.

Suppose it could be used against you also but I have zero issues doing it. We are only required to do it If we actually point it at someone. If its low ready nothing required.

The courts have ruled pointing a firearm could be excessive force, given the circumstances. In that regard, this doesn’t seem too crazy. I don’t think it’s really necessary though. Someone is always trying to make things harder on Officers these days.
