We have had these walks before...I have literature I printed up that we pass out to individuals we pass by as we are on our walk. The past walks were successful to a degree. You'll find some nay sayers on here that will attempt to discourage you and tell you that there are dangers in exercising your rights. Each walk, we had police escorts that followed us and also sometimes held traffic so we could all stay together. At the last walk I believe we had around 38 walkers, including a few children that were carrying AR's.:) You are more than welcome to this literature for handing out, and if it is organized anywhere mid Indiana I'll more than likely participate.:patriot:

Sweet, we can make this bigger and better each time... All groundwork laid is gratefully appreciated and should certainly be utilized. We should take this statewide--a walk downtown could be the centerpiece, but this is an issue for all Hoosiers, not just those who choose to exercise the 2A right as further narrowed by IN statute. Would love to see this grow steadily into an annual event which de-marginalizes "us" (as much as I hate to put it that way...).

We had walkers come from out of state to join with us. I think it is a positive step that each time we walk, the numbers get larger. Each time was also organized by different individuals whilel many of the walkers were the same.:)

Think I figured out the T-shirt... How's this?

Top line (in large, bold print):

    "YES, WE"

    Immediately below (in small print):

    "law-abiding, licensed Hoosiers"

Immediately below, in large, bold print same as first line:

"CAN" with arrow pointing to holster.

I can whip something out for consideration tomorrow and put it up on cafepress if everyone likes it (all at cost, or proceeds to chosen pro-cause entity).

Walk? It's hard enough just convincing the concealers to come out of the closet and OC in their own yard for a day!

    :scared:

    (Just kidding CCers)

Too bad almost every city and town park bans arms.

We (my family) made the trek all the way to Pontiac, MI for a open carry picnic in the town park. 60+ OCers. It was a blast.

I see ATM on that forum occassionally.

The last two times, we would meet afterwards at a place to sit down, have a late lunch and chat a bit, getting to know other members in our community.
It would be great if we could find a state park or somewhere close that we could have a big cookout OC style of course:)

I do like the idea. :yesway:

Trying to think of something to make it more special that day.

Maybe I'll carry an extra gun in an ankle holster

...with shorts and sandals, of course. :)

The police (especially me) won't respect you unless you wear socks with your sandals. Preferably grey wool socks with the red stripes around the top. ;)

I guess I'm off to buy some new socks. All mine are polka-dotted

Oh, and the sandals, can they be the "Greek fisherman" style sandals or is there some special "open carry" sandal that I need to get to coordinate with grey wool socks?

Choice of sandals is up to you. But you must wear socks.

All kidding aside, I have never heard any negative comments from IMPD officers about those that have participated in the 2 previous 2A marches. Keep up the good work.

OK, just curious, are you on speaking terms with them :dunno:

Am I on speaking terms with IMPD officers? I should be, I work for the same department. I have spoken to both Downtown district and motorcycle officers that have been involved with the marches and haven't heard any negative comments about the actions of the marchers or the message being presented.

Do you have a PDF of those? I'd love to have them.

And I'm in. Got two kids too, though both are too young to be carrying anything right now.

I agree with previous comments that "Indiana Legal Open Carry Day" could be perceived as implying that that it is legal only on that day etc by the less educated, or/and observant, in our State.

May I suggest a slight change?

"Indiana 'Open Carry is Legal' Day"

    ..or something similar?

I would also think it would be nice for you to reach out to the others on here that have done this before, and at least offer to work with them, rather than making this a separate event. It would be the polite thing to do, I think...
