One of my hobbies is building scale models. Keeps me out of trouble… Some of my “Projects “ because I don’t think I ever actually finish one before getting distracted and start another one.

Shooting pouch and percussion cap holder I made for my muzzle loaders. I used it to compete in the Woodswalk at Friendship last spring. Hand sewn, made the D rings from heavy copper ground wire on an old telephone pole. Built a small loom and wove the strap, still working on getting the weave tighter. Buckle is from a USMC uniform belt I used in my misspent youth.
Family heritage is Swedish, it says "Hunter" in runes. The cap holder is Thors Hammer shaped, stain is blood from the deer last year, accidentally dipped it into the mess.

It's been a long long time since I have seen an Ontos! Maybe Hue City circa 1965. Neat models!
I built that for my brother and gave it to him at the Vietnam Veterans Reunion in Kokomo last year. He delivered rockets and fuel to to a unit there and his best friend lead a platoon of them. It’s an old Academy kit but supposedly a new kit is coming out this year. Two of his buddies want me to build them one.

This was a few years ago. It resides in my basement, but I may get it out this summer.

In one pic, the engine cover says "2hp". I think INGO will appreciate this. To avoid needing to register it (at the time) the limit was 50ccs and 2 hp. It was 49.4ccs, but made 2.5 hp....according to Honda, but what do they know? Felt like 2 hp to me.

Those are awesome! I used to do some scale models myself, mostly modern navy, I loved airbrushing a weathered navy fighter!

I have an airbrush but haven’t used it yet. I spray mine a base color and then hand paint all the details. I’ll do aircraft once I learn to use the airbrush. I worked on A7Es so I really want to build one like my old squadron.

You do all that by hand? Dang man, that’s awesome! One of mine I built years ago, I had the F-14 “last flight” Tomcat to go along with it. F7AB4889-7295-4CCF-A7CD-8428DDB1074C.jpeg

Yup, after I build I spray paint the entire thing either flat black, red oxide or green and hand paint all the equipment and details by hand. Getting harder because my eyes are getting bad and my hands are starting to shake. Not as noticeable on armor kits though. The Hornet replaced my beloved Corsairs.
