I have an email dedicated to keeping an eye on the other side of the coin. This just showed up in my inbox.

    Friend --

Yesterday, President Obama announced his plan to protect our children and our communities by helping reduce gun violence.

We won't stop every violent act like the one in Newtown, Connecticut. But if we can save the life of even one child, the President believes each of us has a responsibility to take action.

People like you spoke out and demanded action. Your input, along with ideas from leaders and policymakers across the political spectrum, went into the President's plan.

Learn more about the plan, and say you stand with President Obama in tackling this critical issue.

Most gun owners use their guns safely and responsibly, and the President believes firmly in protecting our Second Amendment rights.

But common-sense changes can go a long way in keeping our streets and our schools safer -- and there's too much at stake to stand by and wait for action.

The President will not wait. Yesterday, he signed 23 executive actions to start moving our country in the right direction. And he's calling on Congress to act on four legislative measures -- closing background check loopholes, banning military-style assault weapons, making our schools safer, and increasing access to mental health services -- right away.

Take a look at the President's plan to reduce gun violence, and stand with him in support:

Where ever my GPS says I am
I love how they keep saying, "if we can save the life of one person, we should try", to me it says, "if we can save one life while infringing on the rights of millions other, i will try". I want school violence to end, but if the POTUS thinks any of his proposals will stop anything he is crazy.

Frankly, any car with over 200 horsepower is not needed and would save lives, lets make all cars have a max of that.

The administration has been sticking to that sound bite for the last few weeks. Every time I hear it, I keep thinking "How many lives will be lost because you took protection from someone and they didn't have a firearm when they needed it."

The double standard is mind bottling.

Ditto. If saving one life means everything, then the government should put a ban on swimming pools. They should also mandate all TV's be wall mounted as some televisions have fallen on children.

They should also ban football, baseball, basketball, riding bikes and just about everything else since at one time or another, a child has died doing that activity.

I am NOT diminishing the death of a child as I am a parent myself, but to make sweeping regulations for isolated incidents is ridiculous.
