BTW the long flash does make for less blast.
Was more pleasant shooting ( to me ).

Thanks. May have to take a look at doing something similar.

Lets say 30 bucks for a rail and then 20 for Rifleman alum rings. 50 bucks for a cobbled look.....vs 90 for an integral mount w rings.

True. A one piece mount is just so much easier to set up and with less pieces, less places for a failure to occur.

Shot it w the Leupold Freedom 3-9X and Mark AR mount today.
The mount was torqued to spec as were the rings.
Barrel is free floated and 1 in 8.

PMC 55gr shot like a modified choke.
Hornady V max did better, but still had vert dispersion.
.75" for 5 shots at 25 yards is crap.

Have had great results w other AR's running either ammo, but those were 1 in 9 twist.
Dunno if I have to go heavier bullet or get a diff barrel.

If it likes heavier ball ammo then I'll pop the scope off, put the DD iron sights on it and change to short flash hider.
Just make it a 2 legged varmint rig.

This is an Anderson M4 bbl w a 5.5 XM177 style flash hider to make it less blasty.
Looks cool and is less annoying.
But, am wondering if that extra chunk out front is too much for the thinner bbl.
So will shoot without it and see.

I have an older Leupold VX1 that is known good

So removal of the long flash and change to other scope will tell me if it's the bbl or not.

Did get an M4 Socom 16" bbl to swap if the other is bad. Am not hearing good things about Anderson bbls.
Bought it new, so might send it back.

Re torqued the bbl, got a less sloppy buttstock and changed trigger/hammer springs to JP.
The gun shoots OK now. Is wearing the YHM phantom. This bbl 1 in 8.

The Leupold mount was nice, not overly heavy, but not light either. Lined up and didn't mark my scope at all.
    Loved all screws being Torx.

After minimal use, I'd still give the Leupold AR mount a thumbs up...........if you can tolerate the weight.
On a varmint rig I'd say that doesn't matter.

For $100 I'd be kinda iffy on it. I paid $80 at a shop and thought that a decent buy.

Yanked the scope and mount, and bought an HS stock for my 700, so that'll be my yote killer.
.243 has more zap out yonder ;)
