Prohibitions didn’t curb drug use. Decriminalization didn’t either. Decriminalization along with the socialization of the collateral damage might be the problem.

Maybe the welfare state ought to be rolled back. Maybe let the people that poison their bodies, ruin their lives, and the lives of their families feel the full brunt of their actions.

It's the racist white privileged thing of waging war, burning babies, kicking in doors and general mayhem against the government. Oh wait, that's ANTIFA. My bad...

Read the mouse utopia experiments. There are some interesting parallels to life in the United States today.

If rehab is going to succeed, we need to have combination jail/mental asylum/drug treatment combination centers and a drug that deactivates opioids (like Naloxone) but with the added effect of making the person violently ill.

I met this guy one time who had severe depression. Always talking about killing himself and how terrible life is.

He was very responsive to SSRIs and was much happier when he took his meds.

Thing is he wouldn't usually take his meds. Change is hard. People often choose the familiar, no matter how terrible it is.

Same for drug abusers. Sobriety is hard. Many are simply unable to maintain sobriety even if they're happier when sober.
