    A tale of two Carbines...

A project Ruger 10/22 I've been working on for a few months. I needed a good .22 to shoot at my next Appleseed event. I took an old 10/22 I inherited from my Dad and "sooped it up a bit". It still needs a sling; but, I'm really happy with it so far. I call it "Not Your Father's Ruger".

AND my favorite Carbine in the whole world, a M1 Carbine made by IBM Corporation in 1943.

They do make an interesting contrast. Don't they?

What barrel did you go with on the 10/22?.....

It is made by Keystone Arms. I got it through a distributor, the price was right; but, the electro-penciling was a little over the top. Both the distributor and the manufacturer felt compelled to write all over it. I am exaggerating a bit. It is much less noticeable all assembled.

As soon as I get the sling installed, I'll do a thread on the build. It was a fun project for a novice like me and I am am really happy with the results so far.

    My pellet gun

Edit-looks like I already put this up and someone asked if this is a Nitro piston and yes it is. I haven't shot it yet though. Just did the camo job and afraid to shoot it off my back porch because I don't know how loud it is and I'm within city limits. lol

It used to be a long gun. Chinese SKS with a SGWorks kit. I still plan on changing the front grip and move it out to the barrel. Also still trying to figure out what I'm going to do for an optical. Might do a 3x9 or 4x12 scope and put a reflex at on a 45 degree. I have done the bolt mod and plan on cutting the barrel and haveing it threaded. I LOVE the feel of it so far. Now to get to the range.

Great looking bullpup. I don't think the SKS gets enough respect. Working on a mod job myself. Wanted to go with SG like you, but cheaped out and customized the original stock. A range report on this set-up would be great.

Chinese SKS on updated SGworks bullpup stock.
Now comes with thumbscrews to secure upper hand guard and reinforced ejection port door.

I got my Mosin back up and running thanks to the INGO classifieds. No more broken scope disease... I'm now running a Bushnell Banner 3-9x40. I'll be interested to see how it holds up on the almighty M44...

A few classic American battle rifle pics......My '42 Springfield Armory M1 Garand. All matching SA parts except barrel. Barrel is SA, but re-barreled in 1951. Stock that came on it was knicked up quite a bit. It's Greek or Danish stock I believe and is very dark, almost black from all the oil and cosmoline. I plan on refinishing the original stock this summer. Stock on it now is a Walnut unfinished from Dupage trading. I stained it red mahogany and put 8 coats of Tru oil on it.
