Hit a apple at 75yds. with my Delta Elite. Used to set up a deck of cards and play poker at 25 yds we usually set a 5 second time limit per card and a 7 round ammo limit per hand so a few times ace high would win.

I earned Expert and later got the silver star for Sharpshooter with the 1911A1 .45ACP while in the Navy. In service , we were instructed that the maximum effective range of a .45ACP was about 55 yards, I guess that meant killing range. But, having a fondness for .45's, lots of .45 trigger time and building my own these days, I can consistantly hit a fence post or bowling pin at 200 yards with my 1911's.

    half a mile or more

While out at sea we sometime went to the fantail and dragged a five gal milk can on a rope behind the ship and it bounced all over the place while we tried to fill it with holes. I was the BAR gunner but sometimes would shoot a 1911 45 for fun. A few times I just pointed the gun at a 45 degree angle into the air and shot so I wouldn't have to screw around with returning the unused ammo; of course I was aiming at the ocean and hit it every time. :D That BAR was a nasty rifle to shoot.

Taurus 38 spcl, hip shot, nailed a fly at 75 ft. I made a comment like "that fly is beginning to annoy me" and raised the pistol to waist level, just point and fire with no aiming and squeezed off a round. When I hollered "S.O.B., I hit it", my buddy called B.S. but there was a perfect blood spatter all around the hole on the target. Obviously couldn't do that again if I tried!!!

One time on a 50 yard range, I came within an inch or two of the bullseye with a S&W 36 loaded with 25 year old reloaded wadcutters. I know some of you could do that in your sleep but I was pretty happy about that shot.

125 yards. With TC Encore in 308. Best group of 1.5". But that was on a bench. When I off hand, I would say it is more like 4-5". But I use it for deer hunting and that is good enough for me.
