So they were shooting this or you just found it?

either way cool find man :)

It looks like the previous owners of the house had it out there, or maybe the folks who had it built.

Those marks were made by bullets, so they were shooting it back in the day.

Found it on my land, so I just brought it up for R&R.

Thing probably weighs close to 100 lbs - or felt like it anyway, due to how awkward it was to carry.

When I worked at Autozone, I would carry two car batteries in each hand on truck day. They balanced each other out.

This is as heavy as I remember two car batteries as being. I'm pretty sure it would take a hit or two from 7.62x39. When I get my SKS running again (new sear on the way) I might have to try that.

I know an iron weight from my weight set will pretty much laugh at 7.62x39, it will crater it a bit but disintegrate.

Man, that's ALMOST better than finding a batch of morels in the woods:)

Eh, I have those, too. And wild strawberries in the back yard (though they were badly depleted when I had to have my septic system dug up). Oh, and raspberries on the edge of the woods.

I can go out here and all I need to take most of the year is water. I can forage the rest!

within 100 yards i have a feeling that 7.62x39 will deeply deeply crather that steel, and work its way through it in short order.

I don't plan on making a habit of it. It does crater the weight from the weight set, and not wanting to ruin it, I don't make a habit of shooting that, either. Just trying to illustrate how heavy gauge it is.

Don't shoot diamond plate with a handgun. It shoots back!

There is probably a reason why someone left that there.

If you'll notice, the bullet marks are on the back, the side with the legs. That side angles downward.

My cast .45 bullets just splatter. There's not enough solid left to ricochet. Wouldn't try it with jacketed.

Been shooting it. Tried Wolf 7.62x39 on it, and while it left a dent, it would probably take two or three more to go through (50 yards).

It just laughs at .45acp soft ball. Those bullets just fly into about a million pieces.

Still need to get the head welded on. Been lazy about that.
