Messer is bought and paid for by the local Republican elite. If you want Goldman Sachs/Halliburton/any corporate crony in the House of Representatives, Messer will be your guy. Burton is his own man.

There was some of this of course but I have a hard time believing any organized effort was involved. Democrats are every bit as disorganized as Republicans are.
