Anyone else now with this BS bank?

I used my phone to make a deposit on Friday and it posted like it did with M&I Friday night, but BMO put a hold on anything over $200. So it will not go into my account till Monday night. :xmad: That would have been nice to know.

When I look at my account it shows the full amount posted.
The way I found out about this is by looking at my account and see I am missing $$, but it shows it should be there.

45min. on hold & I get to talk to someone & she has to go talk to someone else.

    Time for a new bank.

Its called a hold on uncollected funds. You should ask what their check hold policy is. Also, last weekend they went through the merge of their computer systems. For two organizations that large, it must have been a nightmare and it wouldn't surprise me if they are still tweaking the system to make it right.

me personally am not involved in this, but I have to deal with it and noticed the sign changed out front of the branch I use last weekend. Our Cub Scout pack has had their account with M&I since long before I became treasurer. The black eye to never have me bank with them personally was the No Firearms sign on the door when I went in for the first time. They have a security officer inside, unarmed... :dunno:

I now know about the hold, but if I had went to the ATM it would all have been in my account.

And yes, last weekend they had the accounts all messed up.

My list of banks over the last 15 or so years.
Key Bank- teller filled out a CC app using my wifes and my info, had enought wrong that it kicked it out.
NDB purched by Bank 1- could not keep $$ in the ATM, it was always out.
Community Bank purched by First Indiana purched by M&I purched by BMO.
When it was First Indiana they would "miss key" my deposit and it would go into the wrong account, they would also decline my atm card purchace 4-5 times then let it go through, but they could never tell my why.

I've never had a major issue with them. I will say this merge has been a complete cluster F$&#. I couldn't access my online account till yesterday evening. I called CS 3 different times and waited almost an hour on each call. First 2 times I had to hang up because I had to do something else. But after talking to a rep they told me that I guess for A LOT of people their online passwords didn't transfer over, so all those M&I customers had to call in to unlock their accounts.

I worked as one of them guards for a quick moment at the Avon branch. I'll say as far as me I was always pretty happy when someone decent looking came in with a firearm because for those few moments they were my protection if SHTF. Used to tick the branch manager off because I wouldn't say anything most of the time. I'd just smile and nod at the person. It was the worst feeling in the world being in a hard uniform but being completely unarmed.

My dad worked for Harris Bank and experienced firsthand the incompetence of BMO. He was eventually given retirement early with prejudice by superiors half his age who didn't know their jobs. He sued them at retirement and collected his retirement benefits even though they didn't want to give them to him. He had worked there for 25 years or so at the time.

My father in law works for BMO now and worked for Harris before then as well. Words can't describe the levels of incompetency that runs that company. Their lease was up on their office building downtown Chicago so they moved the ENTIRE OPERATION TO NAPERVILLE. Not that big of a deal? Consider most of their employees commuted from the suburbs and took the train, now they have a multi-hour drive each way to work. The reason they moved to Naperville? The bosses were tired of commuting downtown so now they make everybody else commute the long way.

Supposedly they moved out of downtown Chicago because the lease rate was going sky high. Personally, I applaud any company that leaves the socialist cesspool known as Chicago.

If you had bill pay with M&I, you lost all of that information as well.

That's the first time I have had a bank be bought out and I lost all of my bill pay info. Not amused.

I like the ladies at the bank I deal with but will be switching banks before too long.

I have banked with them for almost ten years, but it was First Indiana when I moved my accounts there. I wasn't thrilled with the buy-out by M&I, but the online banking from BMO is AWFUL.

I'm taking the next round of rent checks and opening an account with a credit union. I just can't decide between Forum and Indiana Members. I've been moderately happy with the staff at my local branch and they all know who I am since I'm in there at least twice a month depositing rent checks. But not even their 'small town' customer service edge is gonna trump the charlie foxtrot that I feel is coming with BMO.

I opened an account with Indiana Members Credit Union. The only issue so far is that you HAVE to use your debit card as credit unless you want to be charged a $1 for using it as a debit. Other than that, so far so good with them.

Good to know. I always use my debit card as credit anyway, so that wouldn't be a change for me.

I recommend Forum. It is by far the best place I've had an account. I've used Chase, Regions, BoA, and Indiana Members. The bigger banks claim so much more this and that, but customer service and honesty are not something they can claim. :twocents:

I switched my business accounts to Forum and I *LOVE* the people there. I've been to 2-3 branches to conduct business and everybody has been wonderful to deal with.

Their online banking system looks like it is straight out of 1994. It's functional, sort of, but you have to open another account on another site to use online bill paying.

I had a case once where I had a customer mis-pay a check and throw off my deposit slip. Yeah, I should have caught it but sometimes I deposit two dozen checks and miss something. They processed the deposit, sent me the receipt and sent me on my way. I got a call on my cell roughly 15 minutes later with an apology and an offer to email me the corrected deposit slip so I could make my register correct. That's good customer service to me.

I don't doubt that, however there's a Harris/BMO office like 2 blocks from my FIL's house and he can do 100% of his job there and they won't let him. They make him drive 30 miles/day in Chicago traffic to sit and talk on the phone and use a computer.

I use Chase for all the technological and ATM location conveniences.

I use Indiana University Credit Union for the bigger things (Mortgage, etc)

    It works for me.
