    I found these pictures of 2 trigger assemblies. The difference is the sear. If anyone knows, could you explain the difference and purpose.

    The one on the left is an M1 trigger and the one on the right is an M14 trigger if my limited memory servers me right. The M14 military version is a select fire rifle.
