102 MPH? Yeah, he deserved the ticket. The police escort came AFTER he was clocked blasting down the road. Just a guess, but I bet the officer didn't want the guy to wrap himself around a light pole, or plow into a bus full of nuns.

102 MPH is pretty fast. He put his unborn child in greater risk by driving that fast than having his wife give birth in the car (or home or wherever they started from). This, of course, is dependent on if there were any complications in the pregnancy. I can definetely see speeding to the hospital, but there's hurrying to get somewhere quickly and then there's driving like a complete idiot. This seems to fall into the latter catagory.

you can't really say he say was driving like a complete idiot for doing 102mph. it depends on the vehicle he was driving, the road conditions, what road he was speeding on etc. i wouldn't have fined him but i'm not a leo either

Baby was delivered 6 minutes after arriving at the hospital.

Had they waited for an ambulance it would have been delivered while on the road. Had the husband not sped, it would have been delivered on the road.

What sort of freak would "congratulate the father and hand him a ticket"?

It was nice to read several LEOs commenting they would NOT have written a ticket giving the information contained in the story. That lends a lot of validity to the claim "a few bad apples".

I agree. I think you need to use common sense, something that is becoming rare in our society, whenever you drive, or do anything really. But it seems like a good talking to or warning would have sufficed in this situation.

You know only in the US is 102 MPH considered ridiculously fast...

My goodness if you go like 105 I bet you go Plaid...
yup. i cruise at 120mph on my bike all the time, easily doubling the speed limit, by the time a cop sees me go by gets up to speed, i've got my bike secured in my garage.

This. From one of the LEO comments, the 102mph was on the interstate portion of their drive. 102 in a 70 isn't "ridiculous" by any stretch. Way too many ninnies in this country with no common sense or deductive reasoning skills, let alone logic.

If one of your friends was wounded and calling for backup would you have any hesitation to drive 102 mph? I bet you wouldn't consider yourself in the latter category in that case.

    My thoughts as well.

If you are comparing against the Autobahn, then yeah. I haven't yet seen a road in the US in that good of repair, though.

102 MPH on any of the roads that lead to the local hospital is nuts. A quick Google Maps search for the area hospital shows state highways with plenty of cross-streets. I'd hate to pull out thinking he was going 1/2 of his actual speed.

Even on I-93, a couple of miles away, the speed limit is either 55 or 65. That puts him 140% +/- of the posted speed, and likely 30 MPH +/- of the fastest traffic. Distracted by his screaming wife, all hopped up on adrenaline, likely not trained to drive at those speeds through traffic, and quite possibly at the limits of what his car could handle.

My two cents - just pay the darn ticket and be glad your family is all OK!

I don't even have to look anymore to see who starts a thread that is against police, alphabet police, or other government agencies. Yes, a lot of them are doing bad things and need a watchdog on them but it seems to be rambone's life duty to just post theads about the government doing wrong.:dunno:

Actually Most US Interstates are in as good or better shape than most of the Bahn. Not to mention almost all the State Roads in Indiana are comparable to the Bundesstrasse.

I tend to drive around the 100 MPH limit quite often, even when I am on the County Roads. I also have little to no formal training at these speeds. Oh and I tend to be in a 3/4T 4wd Truck...

Being only a measly citizen, I can't do much but raise public awareness. People need to shake this idea that government is their friend.

Some of my posts have to do with government corruption. Sometimes they have to do with having government involvement in too many aspects of our lives. Some have to do with the fact that enforcing every bad law all the time leads to injustice. This stuff needs to be brought to light and denounced as well it should, if we are to ever see a positive swing back towards liberty in this country.

I think he is like a modern day Paul Revere

what I find troubling is the lack of total outrage by people. we should be forming LEGAL protest and picketing the local police stations in these cities.

You are right it does but do you actually do anything about it besides post on INGO? You have strong feelings about what you are posting but I never hear you talking about the campaigns you work on or the rallies you setup or attend? Do you do anything besides post this stuff on the internet that actually might accomplish a goal?
