Marlin 336 from Dunhams

I bought one Monday and paid $369.00 for it. The dang stock looked like walnut in the store but once I got it home it looks like some cheap plastic laminate......am I wrong?

Ive never known them to use plastic furniture. Take the buttplate off, this should verify it.

Sometimes they just look like plastic. My Savage 17HMR looks plastic but it is wood.

May be a distributor exclusive or just not that high grade of wood like some others. My Marlin 336 has a Birch stock I believe; it was the model that came in .30-30 with the camo sling. I won it in a raffle earlier this year.

The low end stocks are generally birch.
