I miss the one I had to sell. Once I get Cathy's Henry .22 paid off, I'm buying another. And Cathy wants one in .357 also, instead of the .32-20 she used to have. She thought the .32-20 was neat and all, but she wants a deer hunting gun.

I've got a Marlin 1897C in .357. Early 80's model (pre-safety). It is a fun gun to shoot. I bought it right after they made the PCR's legal for deer. I shot a deer with it the first year and leveled it. I lost a deer while hunting with it this year. So I'm not sold on it as a deer hunting gun. But it sure is fun to shoot. I've killed a couple woodchucks with it as well. I keep it in the truck most days for shooting varmints and other critters than need to be rid of.;)

What do y'all think of the relative merits of the standard model (18.5" bbl) and the "cowboy" model with the 20" bbl. There's about a $190 difference between the two. Is it worth the extra $$ for the cowboy model?

(I'm talking about the 1894C vs the 1894CB.)

I like the 1894C better. It's lighter, handier, and better balanced.

I have a 1894 c and love it. Have taken 3 deer with it, 2 dropped and the 3rd ran about 20 yrd. My hunting buddy has taken 2 with his and neither ran at all. I like the c better also for it's weight and handling.

I have a Marlin .357 and the sidearm to go with it. The ultimate hunting set up in my opinion. The rifle revolver combination is worth while for any one to have ready.

I love my 45-70 guide gun--use it for deer/hogs/bear down south. Been meaning to pick up a .44 mag for Indiana hunting. They're great little guns.

    SO JEALOUS!!!

It's on my "short list" of guns to buy. Have been drooling over it for a couple years now-the 1894C. Hoping to save up enough to get one this summer. Then...Ruger Blackhawk companion...
