For the INGO members of our club who have patiently waited...Sat. 9 AM Nov. 9th we open this new range to shooting.

Only qualifier is that due to wet ground conditions, we can't yet allow vehicular traffic on our "drivable" road back to the 300 M berm. If you want to shoot, at least for now you will have to walk your targets to and from the berm where we have set up permanent target stands to support 10 lanes of shooting. We could have held off on opening til things dried out more, but we felt it has been long enough and if you can put up with the walk for now, we will hopefully have our drivable road and turnaround at the impact area open for vehicles in the not too distant future after some additional surface work.

For now, bring your rifles, ammo, hiking boots and targets and come on out for a glorious fall weekend at the club. We think you will agree it has been worth the wait.

    cheers,
    Roger for the Board

The photos do not do the place justice..

Well laid out, Fantastic safety measures that are simple AND REASONABLE..

plus from what I have heard there are several improvements coming including 100, 200 & 300 yard metal steel plates to shoot..

Mucho Thanks to all that had a hand at this..

On behalf of our 8 man Board of Directors...Thank you for the kind words...we do this stuff because we too love shooting. This is a unique range given limited visibility of humans downrange. The rules took a lot of thought and a consultation with an NRA range expert to operate as safely as humanly possible.

YES, AR500 steel gongs are a coming attraction to be added in the next few weeks. 200 yard and 300 yard gongs will be added to the 300 M range and a 100 yard gong will be added to the existing 100 yard range in the same timeframe. In spring 2014, one more 100 yard gong will be added to the new range but it's going to require a mini-berm be built to properly contain misses and the ground is presently too wet to haul the dirt to the spot it will be needed. BUT, if you want to shoot 100 yard steel in the near future, just use the existing 100 yard range.

To those members who have patiently waited for this range to be finished...the wait is over...get out there and start shooting...just READ AND FOLLOW THOSE RULES!

Quick update...our new 300 M range has been open for a couple of weeks now, at least to foot traffic, as the road to the impact area/turnaround area by the berm has been too wet to safely drive on it as intended. We will have our range contractor back on Mon/Tues Nov. 25 and 26th to do some additional drainage work and add stone to the road and turnaround area to hopefully firm it up. Sooooo, our new baby will be CLOSED Nov. 25/26 so workmen can safely work downrange. Will post note here, on our website and on our main gate when this range re-opens.

Where is this nice range located and whats info on membership

Martinsville Sportsmans Conservation Club is located about 1/2 mile east of highway 37 on the Southside of Martinsville. Coming north on 37 from Bloomington you turn right at Burton Lane (by Indy's Restaurant), go about 1/2 mile and make a sharp left turn off Burton just after crossing Indian Creek (concrete bridge)...club is about 100 yards off Burton.

I read a little about the facility. It sounds like near to impossible to get a membership since they only take so many applications is this true

If you get in line NOW you stand a better than average chance of getting in. That is an exaggeration of course but not by much! Good luck on getting in, it's a GREAT facility that just keeps getting better!!!

Thanks to everyone that works so hard to make it what it is!

300 M range at the Martinsville Sportsmans Club is now open for vehicles to drive to and from the berm as of today.

We had a lot of stone brought in as well as added drainage work done this week and it is finished...you can drive back to the berm to set or change targets without worry of getting stuck. Members won't need hiking boots now...Enjoy!
