Mayor Daley WILL NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION

Well, the time has finally come. I really thought that guy would die in office. I know most of you could give a rat's ass about Chicago politics, but working for a Chicago based company, this has some affect on me.
I am very excited to see someone new in that seat. Daley has curdled my blood since I first paid attention to politics.:rockwoot:

Now if only Brady can get elected.....I may just be able to carry to work in the future

I hope Rahm steps down and runs, it would suck for the citizens of Chicago but would be great for the country. Rahm is pure evil IMO

That's good news. It always amazed me that the good people of Chicago kept voting this guy in. Maybe someone will step in with a different perspective and help move that city forward although I won't hold my breath. I can't remember the last good politician to come out of the windy city.

Who will the Chicago Outfit get to fill his place? Bozo the Clown still lives in Chicago doesn't he?

THIS is my fear. While we cheer and shout for the end of one political taskmaster's era, the dawn of a potentially worse one could be in the works. While machine politics plays big in Chicago, its just like in the last National election for President: Folks want freedom but are easily amused and easily led astray. While we cheer, some Chicagoans (probably the rich, powerful, crime connected ones) scream, but then begin plans to install a new evil to run Chicago back into the Lake... :xmad:

good news... but I'm sure they'll just elect another socialist that views the Bill of Rights as toilet paper.

The machine in Chicago makes all the decisions, Daley is simply the most visible face of the machine. When City Jim passed on years ago there was a run of sucessors, Harold Washington, Jane Byrne, etc. Little Richard showed up when the machine was ready to install him. Nothing changes, there is no "democracy" in Chicago. The machine probably already has his sucessor picked out.

    Thank goodness. Hopefully he'll disappear.
I was having meetings in the Palmer House (hotel) when taking a break I stepped across the hall to watch him deliver some press conference while he was running for his first term.
Never did I guess that guy I watched from behind the tv cameras would cause so many threats to freedom.
