Yet another sign that he's lost touch with reality. If people in the ME are concerned then let the Arab League handle things. The people in the region do not want America to get involved in the Syrian debacle. Let it be that way. Turkey could roll over the Syrians in a matter of days, and yet they choose not to. It's not our fight, Mr. McCain, and this is just another of the many reasons you lost your election.

So, when are enlisting to go and free them? While I dislike what's being done to the Syrian people it's not my countries responsibility to free everyone from despotism. Where were you on Libya? Obama had his time in the sun there and all you people did was ***** and moan about how it turned out. Think it would be any different in Syria? Sure, of course it'll be different. Because a republicrat wants it.

McCain continues the call for war

John McCain Calls For U.S.-Led Airstrikes On Syria
"The time has come for a new policy," McCain said during remarks on the Senate floor. "The United States should lead an international effort to protect key population centers in Syria, especially in the north, through airstrikes on Assad’s forces. To be clear: This will require the United States to suppress enemy air defenses in at least part of the country."

McCain, the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the goal of airstrikes should be to create safe havens in the country for opposition forces to plan their own political and military attacks against Assad. The benefit of the United States leading the military effort, he said, is that it would allow the U.S. to better empower Syrian groups that support U.S. interests to move toward a democratic transition.

"If we stand on the sidelines, others will try to pick winners, and this will not always be to our liking or in our interest," he said.

Report says only effective way to stop massacre is invasion: $0.3T/yr

McCain slams Obama for Syria diplomacy, urges military intervention
For starters, a change in leadership may not be in America's best long-term interests. Regional experts are concerned that Sunni extremists could fill a post-Assad power vacuum, a possibility validated by U.S. intelligence sources who claim recent terrorist attacks in Damascus and Aleppo bear the hallmark of Al Qaeda.

Another factor that must be understood is that Syria is not Libya. Syria not only has a population four times the size of Libya, its urban terrain presents more complications than Libya’s desert and coastline did.

Syria’s air defense systems, ground forces and armored units are also superior to Libya's. Military experts believe the U.S. would be forced to "carpet bomb" Syria, thereby defeating the purpose of a mission aimed at protecting civilians.

The sectarian and ethnic fissures besetting Syria’s political opposition are much worse than the tribal divisions that plagued the Libyan rebel movement. Minority groups, including the Alawites, Christians, Kurds and Druze, fear Syria's Sunni-majority will seek retribution after Assad’s Alawite-led military is no longer around to protect them.

Due to these complexities, a new Brookings Institution report concludes that the only way the U.S. can truly stop the slaughter of innocents would be via a full-blown invasion. The execution of such a plan would require up to 300,000 troops and could cost more than $300 billion per year.
