I don't have TV so I just checked the Communist News Network site.
There was no mention whatsoever of the reactors.
Could it be that there's something that they'd rather not tell us about this.

To thier credit they probably don't have real clear info on the condition of the core and reactor vessel since nobody is walking up there to look. Robotic equipment should get there soon if it's not already there. We really don't know how much of the instrumentation is still working and accurate.

Robotic equipment would be part of the equipment always kept onhand at a nuclear facility i would think, at least if anyone had a lick of common sense. Why wait until you need it to then have to go out and find/get it?

03A3 - I'm sure not an expert. But I've got to think that more than one piece of equipment can be knocked out by an 8.9 quake plus getting hit with a tsunami... I expect that they have some things there. But we KNOW that the backup generation systems were wiped out by the tsunami. For questions like this, I suspect that we're going to need to read the after action reports. And you can bet that there will be a bunch of them.

Very large generators can be mounted on and operated off of large trailers. They could be kept a short (safe) distance off-site. If the roads/terrain could become impassable then large earthmoving equipment should be kept onhand in order to make access roads. Fuel tank trucks, spare parts, tools, cable, transformers, pipe, cranes ect should be in place too.
We're not talking about an ice storm knocking out our power for a few days. Not having gens to run their equipment is BS.

Now the Japanese authorities have said the No2 reactor has blown. This time it might be the containment vessel. We are all in for it now.

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
    light, feeling pretty psyched.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
    and I decline.
It's the end of the world as we know it.

The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mount St. Edelite.
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic,
    slam, but neck, right? Right.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

    Sorry, couldn't resist... Bunker
