See if you can spot the difference. Hint:

”From January to October of this year, 9,500 Americans got permits to live in Mexico City. Granted many more have tourist visas that allow them to live in the country for six months.”

So….these yuppies, hipsters, millennials or whatever we are calling them these days could literally live almost anywhere in the world that has an internet connection and they are choosing a giant over populated, high crime city like Mexico City? That is really sad.

Better there than a small-ish, south-central, Indiana community that has enough influence from Monroe county types already.

My hunch is they have figured out where to live and exist in parts of the city that are not a hell-hole. Probably the parts the corrupt govt keeps free of the cartels to make the vacationing gringos happy and spending money. Now they accidentally have (semi) permanent gringos making the money of a mid level manager living in a place where their salary has the buying power of a CEO/Oligarch.

I find it humorous that they've been turning a blind eye to our immigration issues, and now the shoe is on the other foot. My only regret is their problem sounds like a first world problem, not a REAL problem.

I find it funny as heck. These kids are smart, as they know they can't afford a decent lifestyle where they live, so they move to where their dollar has more bang for the buck. Even funnier that the locals are complaining about it. I wish I was doing what I do and were about 25 years younger and I'd join them (well, I'd probably temp live in nicer places than Mexico City)... ;)
