Over the last two weeks I have seen an increase in drivers of military vehicles in the Indy area wearing combant helmets.

Did they change the safety rules or does some cargo require combat gear? The driver and passenger both had on the gear. They were driving hummers or and new cab over engine military trucks.

No warning placards were on the vehicles

They are just trying to get the citizens used to seeing soldiers in full gear on the highways and in our cities. Add in the militarization of local law enforcement and the writing is on the wall. It's all part of a concerted effort to slowly desensitize us until the right moment to pounce presents itself. They will start by restricting our right to speed in construction zones and put testicles on our vehicles, then they'll come for our guns, and then we'll wake up one day in FEMA camps. :tinfoil:

In Germany, you could not drive any military vehicle without a helmet. I'm sure it's part of the whole "train like you're going to fight" mantra.

I have to wear an ACH when I am driving a gator/ranger/fourwheeler on post. So there is a good chance that it came down from top somewhere that they have to be worn.

In the summer the National Guard conducts their two week AT's. You will see more vehicles and people conducting training or heading to/from training.

Vests and helmets are required when operating a military vehicle. Seems a little silly on I-465 but that's the rules. At least for Corps types and I imagine it to be the same for the Army persuasion.

Some units requir kpots to be worn some don't. Placards are only put
on vehicles that are carrying cargo containing ordanence. 95% of the time
when you see soilders in public in full battle rattle, they don't have any ammo
even if they are carrying weapons.
Wearing gear is routine, been that way for at least 20yrs.
