Thanks fella’s, I won the bet. The bet was I could post a question and within 12 hours my character would fall into question on my choice of weapon, caliber and my decision to ask ingo instead of ruger. If you think about it I was at ruger when I found this “but haven’t heard back from them yet” conundrum but I saw an opportunity to screw with my buddy for always siding with ingo and walk away with a few extra gedos in my pocket.
Hugger you might have gotten away with questioning my intelligence in your first line but you had to confirm your true intent with your last. As for mongo and big red you guys need to get a room or your own thread so you can give each other a 30 cal toothpickish reach around.
“Not trying to be that guy but that’s just me”. I know you know this was all in fun don’t you? And to think it only took a measly hour.

Wonder what he won.... free upgrade to a 30?

My question is this, why would they do that on basically identical weapons except for stocks, sites and barrels.

Hi, JSom, it is a matter of marketing. Under Old Man Ruger there was much Fudd stuff.

Be advised that there are Mini-14s floating about for .222 like must be sold in France or Italy.

Today, all are cut for the Wylde chamber.

    Good shooting.

Fwiw. Colt did ARs in .222 also. Wasnt just Minis done like that.

Ranch rifle. Idea was varmint control. 223 shines there w proper bullets.

HK even had a " ranch rifle" in the SL 6 and 7.

I have a Mini 14. I like it in the caliber it’s in. I don’t intend to throw toothpicks at folks with it. I just like it because it makes me feel like Hannibal Smith.

    Hahahahaha.

the difference I think (or I hope) is that I’d have a higher hit ratio than Hannibal had. Those guys never hit a darn thing!

Man I must suck. I had to think about who the heck Hannibal Smith was.

    Now I want a Mini 14...

    :faint:

You would like my Mini. It’s a stainless side folder with great wood. Just like the A-Team!

a few months ago, a guy came in with a whole bunch of stuff for us to consign, including a mini 14 in a muzzle lite bullpup stock, as im going thru the rest of his stuff, I find a "a team" folding stock!...I turn and look at the gun shop owner and said "before you sell this stock, let me know the price!"...he ended up putting the stock back on the mini 14, and selling it for 900!...I was looking on gun broker and the stock sells for anywhere from 7-9 hundred!...JUST the stock!

I guess i'll just have to miss targets with my butler creek folding stock (ala the ateam!)

Never thought the mini 14 made sense, but I've always been more of a .30 cal thumper myself. Love the mini 30. It's one of my favorite rifles to shoot. The only downside is that I try to be a nice guy at the range, and it absolutely covers whoever is 1-3 lanes to my right with hot brass. So I can only shoot it at an empty range.
Accuracy is about what you'd expect. 2-3 moa.
