I dont know where you're reading that into my statement..... so thanks for nothing. :)

Maybe I can clarify this for you. If a person falls into a class of people who can't legally buy a gun at a gunshop, then they are also not eligible to legally buy one from a private individual.

Thank you! but not necessarily 100% true. an 18 year old can't buy a handgun from a gunshop until they are 21........... but they can buy from an individual :)

I had a similar thing happen to me 10 years ago, had my ltch at the time. I hired a lawyer and told him i would plead guilty to a charge that did not cause me to loose my ltch, so he got it changed to battery. best money i ever spent on a lawyer.

Been a few days and had to check back in.

@ mikeplan14: Thats good to know, thanks. I've been debating on going back to school and have been telling myself if I go back its going to be for something that'll help myself better in this staggering economy and we don't have one in the family.

@ BE Mike: You're absolutely right, my meeting wasn't even with the attorney, it was his "litigation specialist". I wanted to get a feel for this guy and ask him some questions and she couldn't answer them because she didn't know. How can you get a professional opinion from someone who isn't that person? Don't get me wrong but the guy did very well academically but I wanted to ask him things like...

Have you ever done this before?

What have those cases been like in regards to mine and what was their outcome?

Do you hunt, shoot, own a gun?

Maybe the last question might be a little touchy feely but I want someone who feels the way I do or can at least see the case for what it is and actually "go to bat for me".

The "litigation specialist" said I was a "good" candidate for expungement/reduction of charges but that again it wasn't....wait for it....drumroll....not guaranteed.

I am still going through with it but now I'm wondering if this is my attorney or if I should find another.

Oh and the magna come loud....lol

If you are an NRA member, you might want to check with them. They might have a list of gun-friendly attorneys in Indiana.

    Update:

Post Conviction Relief granted. I called the NRA and went with one of their recommended attorneys. Well worth it.

Congrats, and as I tell everybody, next time (hoping there won't be a "next time,").... throw you hands up, spit on the ground, and walk away.

Thanks to all who posted for the insight/support. I've kept silent for awhile now until it ran its course. I hope those checking this thread have the gumption to read it from it's start for a greater perspective.

It was not guaranteed or insta-win as I said but well worth it. There were plenty of sleepless nights and wondering if it would happen. I look forward to hunting in the fall with my father and our range trips together.

Glad to hear it worked out for ya. My younger brother is going through the same thing right now, he should know within a week if they clear his or not. His was a very similar situation so hopefully all works out. Dan
