Missing form-1

Well that was a new one...

Called in to check on the status of form-1 I submitted 4.5 months ago and was told there is nothing in the system with that serial number. Confused I tell the woman that I had mailed it over 4 months prior, and had been told it had gone pending on July 20th. She checked again (looking both by serial and by my name) and was unable to find it. In the end she told me to call back next week.

This every happen to anyone else? If so how did you get it resolved as after 4.5 months of waiting im not thrilled about the prospect of going back to the end of the line, to say nothing about the 200$...

Did they cash your check? Did you make copies? Did you call about 30 days after they cashed your check to check the status?

Yes, no (figures the ONE I forget to make copies of), and yes thats how I knew the pending date.

On a hunch I called in today and lo and behold its magically back in the system...

Makes you wonder if it's something sinister or simply incompetence on the person doing the search.

by chance is there any 0 or O in the serial number? When I called in with the right serial number (after screwing up multiple times and making them check on the wrong number) they didn't find it until they put in a 0 for the O. I guess the lady I talked too didn't know that all Os and 0s go in the system as 0.

Amazingly no. All letters/numbers that couldn't be confused for anything else. Id complain to them but...
