so i couldn't find a carbine mosin nagant, so i made my own..i cut 11 1/2" off the barrel. and mounted a ATI slip on sight. I also have a scope mount and bent bolt setup for it but not installing it until i sight in the iron sight. also going to refinish the rifle at some point.
Now hopefully ill see some flames

Beautiful gun. Very nice job modifying it. I am also curious as to how long the barrel is now. If you can, add a picture of it shooting flames.

If you ever want to put a scope on a 91/30, they're supposed to have a grooved barrel under that rear sight. It is close enough to the size of the grooves on .22 rimfires that you can use steel .22 rings to barrel mount a scout scope.

the overall length is now 36 7/8". The barrel length is now 16 1/8" (from the line between the receiver and barrel. wasn't 100% where to measure from but measure from a safe point)..going to shoot it sunday. ill post up some flames hopefully.

Yikes man, you gotta be sure about that stuff.

You need to put a dowel down the barrel and measure from the bolt face of a closed bolt.

1/8 inch is kinda cuttin in close!

when i do this, it is 17" exact

After taking my Mosins out for a test run today, I would say be ready for the additional recoil that a lighter weight rifle will provide. Can you say OUCH! LOL
The first 15 or 20 rounds aren't too bad.

yea id say recoil and a little louder now..I have a limbsaver on my to help my recoil though. fire was good too.
