I am planning a canoe trip with my son who turns 13 soon. I thought it would be a good chance to have one on one talks with him discussing growing up. I was going to take him to the range as well for some .22 target practice.

There are a few different rental places in the area. I was thinking of contacting Mongo River Run Canoe & Kayak Rental. My question is which length of trip would you recommend for those that have been there. I wanted to be out about 5-6 hours with some fishing in the lake.

Spero is probably the trip you'll want. That should be about the right time frame, taking it easy and giving you some time to fish the Millpond at the end. FYI, the weekends are often extremely busy and there's usually quite the party crowd out there.

I am going during the week so hopefully the crazies will stay home. I got my reservations so it will be down to refuge or Spero. Should be a good time.
