+FFL fees and the cost to barrel the receiver and have headspaces checked. Just get a new Mosin if you have to scope it.

Most Mosins can be had for 100 bucks or there abouts. Just get another

Get the utg scope mount. No drilling holes needed. I wouldn't ever suggest taking the barrel off of the original receiver. It very hard to get the headspace right.

I've checked other forums and some guys suggest removing the rear sight (2 pins, rail underneath), clamping on some high-rise 3/8 dovetail rings, and using a LER scope. It's a non-destructive setup. I've been thinking of trying it out on one of mine.

Does that utg mount interfere with the stock bolt?

the mount itself does not but the scope will unless you get a LER scope and mount it forward.otherwise you need to get a bent bolt kit.
