Sheer numbers.
Almost 13 million people in the state, over 6 million in the burbs, not including the liberal messes in Rockford, Moline/Rock Island, Peoria, Springfield, etc.
Travel through IL on any interstate and you're gonna see a lot of farmland that shares fundamentally NOTHING with chicago other than they're in the same state. Unfortunately, land didn't buy us any votes. The good folks in IL are simply outnumbered by the socialists/communists/welfare leeches.
