This is a gun that I have had for years and would like to start doing some target practice at between 50 to 100 yards. I dont know what type of mounts to purchase or scope to purchase. I dont want to sink a lot of money into a scope but I would like to have one that is nice and reliable.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

This is a vintage single shot, manually cocked, bolt action rifle. It screams for the receiver to be drilled and an adjustable peep sight installed. Put a target globe on the front and you should have a tack driver.

If you decide you must go with a scope, and you have short stubby fingers like me, you're going to need some special mounts and glass to be able to work the bolt and insert the next cartridge.

Installing a scope will likely also force you to build up the comb for proper eye placement.
