Mounting an Adjustable sight on RIA 1911

Has anyone had any experience mounting an Adjustable rear sight on a Rock Island 1911 ?? I ordered a Springfield sight from midway and using the original dovetail it just sits to far back, over the slide. I saw on the Internet where a guy used a LPA adjustable sight and if looked ok...went to about the end of the back of the slide.

Just wondered if anyone has done this and what Sight did you use ?? Thanks

I do not think having the sight sit beyond the rear of the slide is a bad thing unless it is so far back that it interferes with the hammer.

Novak makes an adjustable sight that may also work.

Would help if you posted a pic.

It also depends on which RIA model you have....the rear sight cut on the GI model seems to be a bit further back than the Tactical model and in that case a novak style sight will sit further back....

Well, if it works, then go for it. Heck, a longer sight radius is rarely a bad thing.
