My question is..did it randomly attack him and why was it loaded when he was in front of the barrel. Just my thoughts.

I was up there yesterday, not a soul but me on the property. I am also curious as to the why.

Thank God he had a friend with a phone.

Indeed, he is lucky. Hope he pulls through ok.

Next time I see an SKS though I will hope that it does not attack me.

I guess I could be more understanding if it was a foot/ankle/calf wound. With a rifle, thats about the only area of your own body that you can accidentally sweep. But how do you accidentally shoot yourself in the torso with a weapon thats just over three feet long?

He probably dropped it and went for a catch.

    Caught two.

Now we know what they mean when they sell a rifle called an "Operator" model.

Add a few of zeros to the price and that's your surgical bill!

    BTW Darwin doesn't like FMJ's

This is UNPOSSIBLE!!! I read this gun expert board called INGO and INGO says that guns do not just "go off". So, when we have all these stories of guns going off without triggers being pulled I know it cannot be true, except when it is.

I've never heard of a CKC cooking off and firing without the trigger being depressed and INGO tells me that it cannot happen so obviously this story is fake.

I bet it was normal, he just dropped it and went for a catch and got a finger in the trigger and was over it during the attempted snag, a bounce and two shots in the belly.

I'll be interested to hear his side of the story. I wonder why "Mike" deosn't know what happened.

"Recently acquired" might mean a bunch of cosmoline and/or crud in the action which has in the past lead to doubling or automatic fire.

As already said, I also wonder if he dropped it.

We as a gun culture can be far too caviler with our guns. We need to remember that they are dangerous. We just need them to be dangerous at the right time

Yes, I am quoting myself now. Yes, I am aware how big a **** that makes me seem.
