Mushroom season in?

I went to the woods this morning for a few hours and found one mushroom(morel). Anyone else been out, or had any luck? If warms up this week it may be time.

havent founf too many this year but when i lived in micgigan i used to find them by the bucket full

a friend of mine and some buddies of his picked up over 500 each last weekend. They said they left way more behind than they picked up! Said they were all big ones, too!

Found 224 Friday with a buddy in Hendricks co. Ended up topping the hat off full. Am sure there were more but we only spent 2 hrs out.

Is Michigan really that hot of spot for mushrooms? I have friends here that wanted to go to Michigan just to hunt for mushrooms. We had dinner at my brothers house today, my dad pulled me in the garage and said "look what I found!" He had about 3 lbs in a bag.

you can find them like that around here too, its all about the spots you know. my dads friend shared some of the 1400 he found in one day

We found about 25 black sponges over the weekend. Hopefully with some warm weather this week, the greys and yellows will be out too.

On a side note, Wisconsin has incredible morels. My dad and uncle found 175 of them that were 8 - 12" tall. They filled up grocery sacks with them.

Never understood why people counted them?!? Is it just bragging rights??

I will say, from all the reports I am getting from back home, this is one of the best years for Morels in recent memory. I will say I cant wait to come home this summer and gobble em up!!

Looks like its about over in the Southern part of the state. Found several yellows last week,and went out yesterday evening in the rain,and only found 4 dried up yellows. They werent dry but withered.

Should be happening any time now, it has still been a bit cold, but the last couple of days have been a step in the right direction.

I found some nice ones down at Charles deem over the weekend while backpacking. Found about 10-15 50yards from Patton Cave. Cooked them up on sunday

Went out this evening and found 3 1/2 pounds of snake heads in about one hour . The biggest patch that I've ever found .

I think we are also about done in central part of the state, they should be north soon. Now I can start planning my trip to Michigan before much to longer.

My grandma does it to keep track of them on the calendar. She has calendars back to 2004, minus 2005, that shows how many she found and where. I think it is a good practice so you have an idea of where to go on what days every year.
