    South of Heaven
    picked her up this morning. wood is in decent shape; everything else looks fine to me. pretty much what i expected for a 70 year old rifle.

    now the trick will be finding the time to scrub all the cosmoline out of her.

    strip as many of the small parts that you can (bolt) and throw them into boiling water.
    It does stink to high heaven but only takes a few moments for the small parts.

    Nice one LPMan! Interesting that everybody seems to be getting 1944 dated ones.


    So is that the serial # for yours? I'm curious because mine has a set of numbers and letters like that and then on another spot there is a 10 digit set of numbers. So which is the serial # and what is the other set of numbers?

    Got a pic? If yours is a 91/30, and the 10 digit number is on the left side of the barrel shank, it might be a ex-sniper.

    Actually, the 10 digit number might be the serial number that was put on when it was imported.
