Troubleshooting strings.

LEDs are better than the old fashioned bulbs.
They're more robust, and handle blinking a lot better.
But, they are not perfect.

Christmas light LEDs have iron legs.
If the string sits in water, or melting snow, water eventually might get into the LED socket, causing the legs to rust.
Just start yanking bulbs down the line, and look at the legs.
If you see rust, you can clean if off. I use a dremel with a wire brush.
You might need to clean the socket. UNPLUG the string, clean the socket with a brush that fits, or pipe cleaner and electrical cleaner.
Be careful you don't use a cleaner that melts the plastic.

Many times, a couple bulbs near each other rust, cause they were sitting in the same water. So finding one bulb rusted may not mean you're done.

Most of my trouble, has come from the bulbs on the bushes. Snow sits on them, causes trouble.
Every once in a while, I think about making an screen, to keep the lights above the bush. But, that never happens.

The lights in the "tree of lights", well none have ever gone out. They never really sit in the snow.
The base of the "tree" is elevated, to try to keep it out of the snow.

Why are you stealing my line? Will have to run by your house this weekend to see the lights.:rockwoot:

If I'm caught up on paperwork, and if the boss doesn't take away my off day, I hope to work on a new addition of lights Sunday.
I still haven't decided where to put it.
Have to find a place that doesn't block other lights.

Course, after the addition is up, I'd have to modify 5 existing songs a little.

Just received an enclosure from Light-O-Rama.

I have the show director and the FM transmitter jammed into one of the light controllers. It's kinda rough putting the cover on.
Now I can move the director and xmitter to the new enclosure.
Maybe Sunday.

And I just received a clear covered enclosure from Allied Electronics for my electronic marquee.
Off day tomorrow. Looks like I can put the marquee out.

Then move the FM transmitter and Show Director to a new enclosure.

And off to Menards.
I need some 4x4s for the addition. Hopefully finish it Sunday. But it will take awhile to modify the 5 songs to include the adddition.

Then....... time to add new songs.

My company was a Light-O-Rama dealer, but dropped them earlier this year. This was a part of my show last year. Not big, compared to some. This one is 32 channels. Didn't set it up this year - the weather worked against me, and when I had a decent day, I went to the range.

2 questions.

1) Why did they drop them? Not enough sales, problems with the product line?
2) Are there other dealers in the area? I buy from online, but I'd buy from a local dealer if it meant more personal attention. Such as helpful hints, or training classes. I'm self taught, and I know the program does 100 times more than what I'm doing.
