Congratulations. It's surprising how far a mortally wounded deer will run after the shot, isn't it? Many who have never shot a deer before expect them to fall over immediately, and when the deer runs off, they assume that they missed it. I'm sure a good portion of those hunters never bother to look very far. You did great by following up and finding him.
