I stood in the tobacco check out lane for about 15 minutes watching a south of the border family pay with WIC certificates. When I finally got up to check out, I told the cashier I love going to work so I can buy other peoples groceries and asked if those were WIC certificates. She said yes and she is on WIC also.

When are us producers going to get fed up and go on strike? I'm beyond trying to fix our republic. It is beyond repair and we need to start over.

I have less of a problem with WIC than I do with the fact that it was the tobacco checkout line. I also have less of a problem with WIC than I do with a guy buying bologna and milk with food stamps and then pulling out a wad of cash to buy smokes and lottery tickets (and beer, maybe.... the latter happened in front of a buddy of mine, not me)

Presumably with WIC, it's at least helping some kid who hasn't done anything except be born to the wrong family.

That's what Obama and his Progressive buddies are trying to do right now: start over without telling that's what they're doing.

Find a candidate or two for congress and get behind them with time and money.

I've got one to suggest for US Senate. :D He'll be speaking at the Sportsman Club in Evansville this Saturday.

I don't think they bought any smokes. I just happened to have to wait on them in that line so I could buy mine. Otherwise, I could have got right up to another check out line. I guess I might have been misleading in my op.

I see no purpose in voting for a dem or repub any more. The only time the repubs act conservative is when they are out of power and only a few are doing that now. The power players in the repub party are trying to take it even further left. Working in the current system to affect change today would be like buying a car where the only redeemable part on it is a tail light bulb and trying to rebuild it. I was listening to Mike Church last night and a guest on there was calling for a constitutional convention. I think it's either that or let this country fail. The looters can only survive off of us and continue to loot from the producers if we let them.

Cheer up not only are your tax dollars paying for the kid now, you forgot that your tax dollars more than likely also paid the hospital bill for the birth. So you started paying for their kid even before it was born. Did they happen to turn around and thank you? Probably not, remember its better to give than to receive. We are fortunate to live in a country where the politicians that lord over us use our money for everything except for our benefit. Come on its Thanksgiving be grateful your not slaving away in a state owned salt mine, yet.

I used the WIC program before. It really helped me out. After I lost my job I debated on signing up again. I would have qualified. I decided that I could provide for my children without the help.

Not everyone that uses the program abuses it.

Keep on puffing. You'll have quite a few years less to deal with the horrible country that you live in. And unless your health care is self-funded, I guess I'll get to pay ever-increasing premiums on my health insurance (with ever-increasing co-pays) to pay for expensive care for one of the leading killers of Americans.

Feels so good to pay for other people's self-destructive behavior while they rot away in a hospital from self-induced lung cancer. And pretty soon, maybe the government will just control all health care, thanks in part to skyrocketing costs caused by the Marlboro man and his band of merry hackers. I doubt Obama would have the impetus for such a power grab without the help of smokers.

Personally, I'd rather buy a kid a box of cereal....even a "south of the border" kid.

I see what you are saying. It's a habit that comes back from time to time. I'll kick it again real quick. :ingo:

i used to work at a business that took WIC vouchers....form my experience, they are even worse than your run of the mill welfare queens. thank god my current job doesnt do WIC. of course, i have to deal with prolly 10x as many medicaid people though, so i guess it evens out.

sure not everyone abuses the system, but the vast majority of the ones i have dealt with are the most ungrateful people i have ever met. about 2 months ago my employer had a food stamp recipient call her an "effin b" because she had to pay $0.07 sales tax the voucher wouldnt cover on a pepsi coupon offer. you heard me right, she cussed out an asst manager over seven cents.

i wouldnt mind if i never had to deal with medicaid people ever again.

interesting note on the tax issue, i read on cnn not too long ago that 48% of americans will have zero income tax liability this year.

Agreed. Hell, I'd be happy just to see the Constitution restored.

First off I don't mind giving charity when it is of my choosing. And I don't even mind WIC. Also I really didn't appreciate your comment about the "south of the border" types because they may very well be citizens of this nation longer than my family has been on these shores. We really shouldn't be looking at WIC as a racial issue.

HOWEVER all my small criticisms of part of your post aside, the statement I pulled out of your post, shown above, is a darn good question.

I really am sick and tired of being a producer who lets a looter government take and take and take from me. I provide jobs, I provide taxes, and what the heck do I get in return? I get a government who criticizes me for being greedy so they raised the minimum wage, which takes more from me. My response was to close down one of my stores which was under performing. Screw the government when it raises my costs I have to respond because I am not here for charity, I am here risking my assets to make a better life for my family. I'm not going to risk my family's security for the sake of another. Sorry folks, my child and my wife come first. So when the looters in our government raise the stakes then I have to respond in some way.

I've already told my employees that if I have to provide them with Health Care under an Obama plan, or pay a tax to cover their costs then I'm done. The stores will close. Screw it. I don't make enough on them to deal with more hassles from this government. I'll go Galt. I'll join his strike. I'm sick and tired and pretty close to being totally fed up.

Given who is in power (and I don't just mean the libbie dems that are sitting in the big offices), I think that a Constitutional convention is the absolute last thing we need now... unless you nice folks would like to see little things like the document from which I took my screen name disappear.

Very good point Bill. Those are the last people I would want "re-fibering" this nation.

Thanks... I think of our posterity in the same way as those who founded this nation 234 years ago did... and to think of them looking back and putting Barry Hussein or Pelosi, Reid, Hillary... any of them... on a par with those I think of when I speak of the Founders...

Well, the saying is, "I think I just threw up a little in my mouth... " but this is more like projectile vomiting.

Though on reflection, you make a good point: They are certainly giving this nation a healthy dose of fiber. That's usually the step right before one takes a big .... you get the idea.

I don't have a problem with govt. programs that help the true needy. I am more upset with the govt. helping finance Wall Street and Big Banks that hand out bonuses. That is misuse of my tax dollars!

The guest Church had on was arguing against what you are saying here. Our constitution is gone. As much as we hate to admit that to ourselves, it is true. The guest was talking about a book written in 1978 (Friedman I believe) that was comparing the campaign goals of the Socialist Party of 1928. Every single thing they were trying to get in 1928 has been realized on some level. Most of it has fully come to pass.

Our constitution is gone. How can a convention make things any worse?

Millions in this country owe their entire existence to welfare programs. I wish people were as upset by that as they were by bonuses. The government doesn't have the power to take money from you or I to give to Wall Street or a poor person.
