My 'new' 1898 toy.......** Updated **
Here is what I know...
Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg Mass. U.S.A.
PAT'D APR 6 86 FEB 15 87 MAY 10 87 AUG 25 96 PAT'S Pending
Serial E2xxxx ( In 2 spots, under the handle and behind the cylinder)
Here is what I found out...
SECOND MODEL SAFETY AUTOMATIC HAMMER REVOLVER
(Black Powder Cartridges)------------1896-1908
E letter code prefix to the serial number and four patent dates on the top of the barrel was manufactured in 1898.
It is a second model small frame 32 S&W caliber safety automatic hammer revolver.
What I need to do, fix the trigger spring as I broke (or unhooked it) while giving her a much needed cleaning....
Was warned NOT to use smokeless powder. Can't seem to locate black powder cartridges, so I am tempted to ...
What do you think?
