Have been thinking about building a simple carbine as I"ve got the nasty habit of dumping a bunch of money and weight into any AR I've ever owned! This one will be a simple 16" Del Ton Mid Length with a Primary Arms M3 red dot on it, built on a STAG lower. Will probably get a MagPul MBUS for the rear and take it to the range! May use it for some multigun this year if we're shooting clsoe ranges. I've had a Del Ton Middy before and it was super reliable and would easily shoot inside MOA with a scope on it. I may end up with a MIAD or a MOE grip on it as I've got big hands, but I"m really going to try and keep it basic! I've already ruled out any kind of railed fore-end as that seems to be the gateway to extra weight! Will put up pics when it gets here.

I think you're onto something good. My favorite carbine is very similar.

Don't put those railed hand guards on!
