We were driving around town tonight and I decided to stop in at Midwest Gun Exchange in Mishawaka and drool over a Sig I've been wanting for ages. Out of the blue my wife said "I'm buying it for you." I was in shock. Here is the pron required. It's still lubed from the factory and dirty from shooting it...but I took these right away after getting home. I think I'm developing the SIGness...

It's the Tactical Operations version with 4 20-round magazines. It's the newer version of the older blackwater tactical. From my understanding I can put different grips on it and get flush-mount 18 round mags and it'll be like a P226R Elite Dark. Very cool. The tru-glo fiber optic tritium front sight is BRIGHT! Midwest had a fair deal on it based on online prices checked quickly from my phone.

We went and shot it at the little range in Elkhart tonight right after buying. It was very different from the Glocks I've always owned, carried, and shot but it was very smooth. The bore axis feels higher with a little more muzzle climb but I'm still very unfamiliar. The trigger system will take some serious getting used to but I absolutely love it. I did have a couple stovepipes when my wife shot it, but it was probably limp wrist...and the slide never locked back on an empty magazine because I was riding the slide release due to my Glock-grip. I'll have to adjust to it. I carry a Glock 17 every day and the grip frame on the P226R is slightly longer, but with standard grips it appears to be almost identical. It won't be in the carry rotation any time soon but I'm open minded to carrying it in the future. My Glock 17 will be on duty for the forseeable future though. The very first shot I took with the gun at the range was the image below. One single first shot. I wasn't that accurate the rest of the time, but I think it's a good omen. This was at about 10-15 yards. Wow.

Great Wife! Nice gun! For our first Christmas together, my wife bought me Meprolight night sights and a fobus ankle holster for my Glock 33....it confirmed that I knew I'd scored a winner!!! Still have her...but sold the G-33 when short on cash!

Nice Sig. I love my 229 elite and carry it daily. The SRT is a delight, and the double to single action transition isn't a problem after practice. I try to do 20-50 double action shots per range session to keep in practice. The Signess is definitely a fast spreading disease, but a good one.:D

Love that Sig porn. You do understand that once you have the Signess it does not stop with just one. Very sorry for that. JUST KIDDING!

See if your wife could start a support group for our wives/gfs so she could help our better halves understand her wisdom.

Nice purchase. Love the grips too. :ingo:

Congrats, I've got the blackwater tactical and love it! Looking at adding a threaded barrel someday.

When I was looking I was considering one of the threaded barrel models as I would like to jump into the supressor foray at some point. A threaded barrel is $175 or so from SIG and maybe cheaper if I shop around...I think it would make a good host. I'd like to have one that will work on both the Sig and the G17 if I do it. Sounds like not a difficult setup to have as suppressor threads are somewhat common.

If I can get a supressor for my "Tactical Operations" sig and clip a laser underneath it and a flashlight under the laser I can be completely tactical-ed out and tier 1.
